Hi everybody,

Anyone who stops by is encouraged to join in with your comments. Many of you are regular readers and commentators, so this may be preaching to the choir, so consider this a call to choir practice.

The reason this forum was established was to gather and share your impressions of Great Powers. Questions, comments and new ideas are most welcome and encouraged.

We will add to this link as we cover each each chapter. Please join in at any point, I know that all of us here at Tom's blog are looking forward to reading your impressions and comments.

I am an Afghan analyst, and regarding your assessment of COIN, the problem in Afghanistan is there are multiple insurgencies, not just one. COIN is well adapted in theory at least to a monolithic insurgency but what about one that isn't?
