Danny Federici's last perf

Was in Indy.

Springsteen made a big fuss over him throughout the show. I couldn't tell if it was his birthday or what at the time. Now I think everyone knew it was probably his last show.

When Vonne and I walked back to the car, I said to her that we were lucky to see the entire crew together, because who knows how long that can go on when Bruce himself is 60 next year? You have to remember that this album was the first full-band new-material album since 1984.

It was a real privilege, and I feel sorry for the band.

Here is tape of Dan from the Indy show.

The news reports seem to limit Danny Federici to "Hungry Heart" and "The Rising" except for one that sums him up well: "His sound was so much like summer, bright with promise, but wise to the fleeting nature of the season. Never silly. Always grounded"

He will be missed.
