We can handle Turkey and Kurdistan

ARTICLE: U.S. Urges Turkish Restraint On Kurds, By Molly Moore and Robin Wright, Washington Post, October 14, 2007; Page A01

Scary, yes, but a relationship recalibration we were inevitably slated to go through with both Turkey and the Kurds. If Turkey is expected to "get real" about Kurdish independence, then the Kurds must get immediately real about the PKK. Ditto for the U.S. on how this aspect of Iraq's soft partition force some strategic accommodations.

All of this tension is eminently processable--and all for the good--if we're mature on the subject and actually lead.

Yet another opportunity for Rice to salvage some sort of legacy.
