ARTICLE: Iranian official offers glimpse from within: A desire for U.S. ally, By Christiane Amanpour, CNN, February 21, 2007
Oy that Friedman always gets the PR and credit!
But remember who spoke of this inevitable co-optation first...
I gotta send this Iranian official a prescription to Esquire, because when I first proposed such a strategy (more than two years ago!), I was blasted for my naivete.
My naivete looks more like conventional wisdom with each passing month.
Duh! I know what the problem was! That issue had Scarlett Johannson on the cover and my name just off her right ... uh ... Oh I give up!
Thanks to Janet Gugliotti for sending this.

Perhaps the Bush administration's biggest diplomatic mistake was not engaging Iran. It is as if instead of engaging China, Nixon threatened it with invasion.

I refer everybody to pages 100 to 104 of BFA, published in 2005. One cannot but agree with the arguments developed in these pages on why Iran is the US natural security partner in the Middle-East and why both countries should enter in a grand bargain
