It Is Time That We Saw The Sun Rise Together

 

 

I knew my old path,

And we go now, forever

As songs unbroken by the silence.

 

Please treat the distance I have traveled alone

Before you, before us,

With care.

 

It is the me that I want you to know well,

Please count our steps forward

As blessings from God.

 

Rhyme me a river to follow alongside our road,

The waters will fill our hearts

And quench our unspoken thirst.

 

The river cannot dry away,

It will be filled with appreciation

And love.

 

 

(written for a good friend on the eve of her wedding, 1981)
