Time's Battleland: "Pakistan: indispensable to US security?"

I am amazed at how quickly the Obama administration is going out of its way to assure everyone that we're sticking with Pakistan for the long haul no matter what. No discussion and little explanation, it's just assumed that Pakistan becomes the new indispensable partner that anchors US national security, even as every day reveals some new aspect where we clearly don't trust the government, military or secret police whatsoever.

Pakistan as our North Korea. Very interesting. You know I have to keep looking at a map to keep things in perspective. All the military activity we have been involved in since WWII that came so close to China. We were even on their soil and fighting the Japanese together. Flew missions right up to, and sometimes over, their border in the Korean war. They could probably hear some of those B-52 raids during the Vietnam war. Then we danced with Taiwan for all those years. They know we are killing people with drones ( and I suspect commandos) in the Tribal areas of Pakistan. We just pulled an eye popping military action only miles from the capital of Pakistan and managed befuddle and embarrass our "ally", their neighbor. I am surprised that China is not more paranoid.
